The nostalgia for color and form in food

When I decided to produce 60 pieces of candy for this current project I’m working on.

I promised myself that I would only draw Americana!  Candy with LABELS we all grew up with and remember ripping open so dearly.

Yes, I admit I have a true American fondness for the bright colors of the crinkly wrappers and anticipation for what’s inside.   But now at 35 of the 60 candy drawings I am producing, the tables have turned! (HA! Oh dear).  I am always telling my students at CCA to be willing to compromise, think outside the box!

I took my own advice.

I’m challenging myself to draw my next 10 pieces for the CSArt project with no labels!  Focusing only on form and color – candy itself as beauty and design.

These are the first 3 of the 10
